Book a Flight

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to have any previous experience?

No experience required, however we promise a new experience you'll remember for a lifetime!

Our passengers are treated as individuals rather than part of a group. We begin by greeting you at an easy to find meeting place and take you to the launchsite. Once at the launchsite the pilot and crew will assemble the basket and do preliminarily checks on our equipment. The pilot then gives you a pre-flight briefing to acquaint you with the equipment and information you'll need to know during your flight. You'll be given the opportunity to participate with the inflation of the balloon. This makes a great "Kodak moment".

Is there a feeling of motion during the flight?

No, The Basket Hangs Motionless

There is nothing that makes the basket sway during flights. The basket hangs motionless in the air mass in which it is suspended, and if you were to hold a candle in your hand as you fly, it would not flicker. For those of you who are a little timid about not having your feet on the ground, you'll find the motionless flight of a balloon easier to accustom yourself to than other forms of flight, or for that matter even a chair lift ride.

What happens after the flight?

We Put The Balloon Down, but We're Not Done Yet.

Before the balloon completely deflates you may want to step inside the envelope to get a different perspective. Feel the still warm air on your face and take a few photos. After packing the balloon away we commemorate the flight with a traditional flight ceremony with non-alcoholic champagne and presentation of your flight certificate.

Where and how far do we fly?

Our Launch Sites Vary

However, we generally fly and land in the valley where the balloon can be accessible to roads upon landing. Depending on wind, we may cover anywhere from one to ten miles of ground. It is possible to fly back to the launch site, however this is not common and a chase vehicle follows the balloon.

Is it cold in the basket?

No

A fifteen foot flame two feet above you keeps you rather warm anytime of the year. YouÌll feel comfortable if youÌve dressed as advised. You will have no sensation of wind since the balloon flies with the wind rather than against it.

Can you steer the balloon?

There is No Device With Which to Steer

Our highly skilled and professional pilot is remarkably adept at using the variation in wind direction at different altitudes to frequently rudder the balloon.

How many people can go up together in the balloon?

This will depend on the weight of passengers

Generally 4 people will fly together. We are able to book larger groups in Crested Butte by flying in "hops".
